I have two complaints about this company.
Problem 1. On June 25, 2002, they called me and claimed that on May 3, 2002, I used 1232 meg of disk space. This is 732 more than I am allowed. Aitcom charges $.99 per meg in overages. They waited over a month to notify me. While I did have a disk problem at that time, it was not as high as they claim (See Note A below). I replied that I wanted a detailed file by file listing of my disk usage on that day so I could verify the problem. I am able see real time disk usage anytime I want, so I assumed that Aitcom could see it also. Aitcom claims that all they have are daily totals. They claim that there is no way they can show me the detail. So they charged my Credit Card $727.00 with no way to back it up. Unlike other companies, they don’t send a warning that you are overrunning disk space. On July 9, 2002, they call me and claimed that on June 8, 2002, I used 887 meg of disk space. This is 387 more than I am allowed. They waited over a month to notify me. I knew of no disk problems at this time. Again, they refused to provide detail but charged my Credit Card $387.00 with no way to back it up.
Since my monthly rental, runs around $160.00, this $1000.00 + bill just about puts me out of business. Before these “problems”, I was using 444 meg of disk space and after these “problems”, I was using 350 meg.
Problem 2. During my research of the problem, I discovered that the of the 500 meg disk that I am supposed to have, usage shows that over 29 percent (103 meg) of my disk space is used by the operating system. For Aitcom to say I have 500 meg when it is only 397 is fraud! Would you like to buy a half ton truck from Ford but then be happy when you found out that you could only carry 500 pound because the engine weighed 500 pounds. That would be fraud!
After several phone calls, I realized that Aitcom would tell me one thing over the phone and then retract it by email with a more expensive option. All they wanted me to do was sign up for the $400-500 per month accounts. I can’t afford that.
