This is obviously a small company with good intentions and poor system administration. I signed up about 10 days ago and I've had about 2 days of downtime. On the first instance there was a hard drive failure. It took out web4. We were replaced on web12 about 8 hours later. Would have been nice if there was RAID or backups, but neither exist at AssortedInternet.com All data was lost, but fortunately I didn't lose anything there I couldn't replace. But I'm very glad I didn't host a database there!
Today was the last straw. About a week after the hard drive failure, there is unexplained downtime for about 4 or 5 hours on web12. The system comes back up but a URL to my domain's website shows some control panel we don't even use. Later the website is up but email is bouncing back because the accounts are being restored. Why have the SMTP server up and rejecting messages? This is stupid because it tells the sending client that the email address is a bad one. A better choice is to shut down the SMTP service until all of the user or email accounts are restored. That way the mail stays upstream and tries to deliver once in awhile. No lost email, no impressions that your company just blew up in Iraq, just a small delay in email delivery. This is just an example of the inexperienced system administration you'll be hit with at AssortedInternet.com
That is a great name for this service. It is truely an assorted internet experience.
A total of 12 hours downtime since March 25th (today is Apr 4).
Hopefully I'll get my refund and I'll be on my merry way.
