Man you guys are right on the money.
CWI sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've had many problems with them. Most of them they blame me for. When in fact some times i don't even touch the server at all.

This lastest one took the cake. My site was down for a month.

They make offer 30GB, but it's not worth the hassle at all. Please never host with them.

This provider is absolutely the worst! The site was constantly down, customer service virtually non-existent!

1. they've closed my account without any prior notification, i found out about it when my mail started bouncing.
2. i havent gotten a single reply from billing or customer support concerning this issue
3. emailing directly to their CEO, Mr. Marcus N. Barnes only got their attention, and they guy only tried to prove how stupid and wrong i am instead of helping me to resolve the issue.

dont use'em unless you're ready for interruptions and long disputes.

Stay away!! CWI Hosting pulled the plug on my web site completely without warning or explanation.  It took a long run-around with customer service to discover that they were claiming that my site was using an excessive amount of system resources.  I was well below the transfer limit for my hosting plan and wasn't doing anything other than serving plain files -- no database, no CGI, etc.  I have heard from two or three other people who had similar experiences
in the last couple of months.  Bottom line, they are not willing or able to deliver on the promises in their hosting agreement, and I think they are deliberately trying to get rid of customers they lose money on.

On top of that, their customer service had been getting progressively more irritating to deal with.  As reported by others here, I also had experiences where they would close my support ticket claiming that nothing was wrong, when the problem still existed.

My CWI Hosting plan claims to have 1.2 gb of web space and 30 GB of transfer along with a host of other features such as MySQL databases and mailing lists. However, long before you come close to using those resources, they turn off your account with NO WARNING saying you have violated their "20% of resources" clause.

Because there is no warning, you have no chance to check their stats to see if there is any validity to their claims. One day you have a web site and an email account and the next day you don't.

When you attempt to contact them, they don't respond, they put you on hold, they don't know what is going on (typical quote "I guess your account was suspended" and "there is nothing here about your account being suspended") and you have to communicate directly with their "CTO" who tells you it's all your fault, they did nothing wrong and if you don't like it you can get someone else to host your web site.

I think I will.

We had our site hosted for a 1 month period in which time they went down 3 times! One time for 3 days.  They do not bother to inform customers when the site goes down, we have to hear it from our customers.  And then it is nearly impossible to get a hold of their customer service.  And when you do, they say there is no problem at their end.  We had prepaid for a year but after a month switched to a new host and have been happy ever since.

They upgraded their server software to cURL 7.9.4. It is now running as a command line instead of compiled into PHP as a module as it was before the upgrade. Even after providing sample scripts and showing them how to correct it, their ego has gotten in the way and they told me to redo the coding on 6 sites because Mine was wrong. I have been programming for many years and program in several different languages. I can't beleive they had the nerve to say this.

If you require advanced programming for e-commerce or UPS XML communicating, find some one else.

They never claim the prolem is theirs. NEVER.

I have been using CWI Hosting for about 6 months and have 6 clients using them with various plans.

I have had so many problems with email not working and the server being down...and they always say that there is no problem.

Imagine if my site is down and all my clients sites are down at the same time...all using a different ISP and BOOM..everyone is working again at the same time...and they say that there is no problem on their end. YEAH RIGHT!!

It doesnt take a brain surgeon to know that when every other website is working except the ones on CWI's server..something is wrong on their end.

The uptime guarantee is a joke.

I love the bandwidth and server space, but that is the only thing I would say that CWI Hosting has going for it.

I'm looking for a new hosting company.

Theh have a 99.9 percent up-time, but thats a joke. The server is always going down. When you fill out an online request ticket (usually the only wat to get ahold of them) it takes forever to get a response which is usually that they can not detect any problems. Tell that to my customers that complain that they cannot gain access due to a Server not Responding error.

I have had problems with CWI since the very beginning, but fell for their excuses and decided to hang in there and give them a chance. That was a mistake. Their support has gotten worse instead of better. Their staff are often rude and unprofessional. They are impossible to reach (they have an emergency support number for use in the all too frequent case of having your site or email go down, but it's usually answered by an answering service that takes a message and calls are not returned). Since calling is not a good option, you're stuck having to submit trouble tickets online and wait (usually a long time for a response). Half the time they close the ticket saying there's no problem even when the problem still exists, so you have to open a new ticket. Dealing with these people has gotten beyond infuriating, and I am currently looking for a new host.

First of all,

They enforce strictly there usage agreement, such as CPU utilization, bandwidth.  But when this happens, they shut you down and they do not inform you.

And you have to annoy them (through their support web site) to get answers about what's the problem.  When you finally know what is the problem, most of the time, it is a matter of a few minutes to detect that one of your 3rd party php package is doing something wrong.

And it takes forever to reactivate your site when the correction is made.  Most of the time, the support staff do not take initiative and you have to go through the chief technical officer to get things done.
