Hostsave is the absolute worst hosting company I have ever dealt with. Between their lack of service, constant technical problems, and worthless support, the 5 dollars you save in hosting fees will cost you dozens of times that in lost time, information, headaches, and productivity. Never Ever Ever use this pathetic excuse for a hosting company.

I had a few hiccups with the server but nothing remarkable. I had a true 99.whatever% uptime.
I Emailed billing about a credit card # i had on file there and didnt get a reply for almost a month. it was then a form email so i replied and got a response from a person about 2 weeks later.
Ive decided to persue another host (powweb) for 2 reasons.
HostSaves customer service sucks & i needed a new domain name.

Customer service is non existent. In five days, they were incapable of answering an email. I was with them less than a month and they cost me thousands in lost business because I made the mistake of running my email through thier server. Anyone thinking about hostsave after reading this should have thier heads examined. Hostsave is worse than useless. They are another corporate fraud.

I have not been able to setup a new email account for months. When I sent their tech support an email from my main address, that email address goes down. I found their phone number from this site and they were upset that I called!!! Their claim is that Hostsave only has email support!! He tells me they have responded but of course I cannot get the email because that address is also non-functional. So I get him to forward the response to another email address. It recommded that I use some free site to pickup my messages. Two email addresses work and two do not? That is pathetic!

If there is a problem, or if you have a question do not ever expect to get help from these guys. For instance my site went down once for over two weeks. I sent emails everyday, pleading, demanding, and/or otherwise asking for help. Finally it came back online but not a an email sent by them saying sorry, or anything. It's like it never existed. They don't have a telephone number, and if you want to talk to Tech service you have to use their website in order to do so. But do they get the messages? Do they exist? Does anyone know anything about this company except their customer service sucks.
Beside that the site generally runs pretty fast but the GCI stuff runs slow. And if you want it they SSL, and a couple other things that might interest people but do not expect any help what so ever.

Like many others, I'm defecting from hostsave and moving to icdsoft. The reasons? Poor tech support, problems ftping via dsl, some sort of incompatibility with my particular computer/dsl (i.e., I can access the site from other computers on the same network, but in order to use my main computer, I have to switch to dial up. Certainly part of this problem is some idiosyncracy of my computer. However, my hostsave site is the ONLY one I have this problem with, so it's gotta be hostsave as well.)
If you're thinking about moving, call Affinity's tech support at 1-800-753-6329. They'll be able to give you the registry key that you need to transfer your domain via melbourneit.com, and you can cancel your hostsave account at the same time. (I hope! I just did this today--we'll see how it goes... ;-)

We have had nothing but helpful, courteous and quick (I consider 24 hours to be quick, as Web customer service goes) service from HostSave. Our site has never been down, and we have had no problems with email.

Until I came upon webhostingratings.com and had a chance to read the reviews on hostsave.com I was sure this company had a vendetta against me. Customer Support_ non existent, technical support non responsive. It's been 3 months and I still can't get my site up. Stay away! Stay far away!

It is really too bad! They would be an excellent service if they would respond to their e-mails and help their clients. Theres really not much you can do with the control panel screwed up ad in the place below. They state they have "24/7 customer and technical support", but don't expect a response from them within a reasonable time.
I am so fed up with them that I reported them to the feds! If you have a problem where they are taking or have taken your money and then have not provided service, use print screen (Print Scrn) to record what is going on with your system and save e-mails, submissions, etc.
Although it is impossible to find their real legal address on the site it is: Hos Save, 3rd Floor, 101 Continental Blvd., El Segundo CA 90245-4530
Send them a US CERTIFIED LETTER to terminate your account, request a refund, etc. (since they don't respond to e-mail etc).
Saving ALL DOCUMENTATION you can void or have other recourse through a purchase made with your credit card company. The legal jurisdiction of this company is State of California, Los Angeles County, City of Los Angeles. Using PHP... God? I don't know... I still can't get them to fix my cointrol panel let alone get the path to run PHP!

These guys had great difficulty in enabling the Front Page extensions. It took two weeks. They are terribly slow at responding. Several days typically, and once they didn't respond at all. I have had problems with changing billing once it is established, and you absolutely will have great difficulty speaking with someone on the phone as they can't be reached.

I have been trying to contact them for two weeks as we can't upload my website. Got one response saying technical would get back to me then nothing. Sent multiple contact messages. No phone number and HostSave does not appear in Fort Lauderdale phone listings!

I've been with Hostsave for a couple years. I didn't notice the credit card on file with them was outdated so I tried to update it online... NOTE: my bill had not been paid for 3 months and never got an email or other notification. After there system would not work correctly and I calling the bank to see if it was my card I tried emailing them. After days of waiting and multiple emails I gave up! They finally replied with the standard email everybody gets... "Thanks for contacting Hostsave blah blah blah, our system is having problems, please fax us your credit card number". NO WAY! That's when I called it a day and canceled my account. I tried and tried to get a phone number so I could just explain to someone what was going on with no luck. Finally 2 weeks later I get a collection agency letter in the mail for Cybergate... Who is Cybergate? I've emailed Hostsave to see if it's them. Think I got a reply? NO!

DO NOT sign up with this company! I've had sooo many problems with this "HostSave" thing. First, right when I signed up, my email wouldn't work for a month....five emails to tech support and three weeks later, they respond (very rudely, may I add). Now I can't upload ANY files that I've updated. None. And NO ONE is answering to my emails to tech support. How frustrating. I'm trying to cancel my account, but can't even get a response from that! Pick another host, look at all the other terrible reviews of this company. Sucks.

Have FTP access problems to my site. Constantly try to contact them with the problem, but most time do not receieve reply. When I did receieve reply finally, they told me that they are aware of this and are working on it. They could not give me ETA of resolution. This has gon on for 4 months now. UNACCEPTABLE!!!

I really wish I had know about webhostingratings before I signed up with Hostsave. It would have saved me a lot of trouble. Avoid this host at all costs. They promise 24/7 support but never live up to that promise. I've had a problem with my site for the past two weeks and, after numberous e-mails, I have yet to receive a response. By the way, did I mention they provide no phone number so the only way to contact them is through e-mail?

I've had nothing but trouble with this company. Initially, they didn't bill me for months then suddenly, unless I paid up within a week, I was going to be cut off. Thankfully, I paid up and that was that.
Now (and for the last 3 months), I've been unable to access FTP or the control panel. No-one helpful seems to want to reply to my emails.

You get what you pay for when it comes to this 3rd rate hosting service! They DO NOT respond to your e-mail requests (which by the way is the only way to contact them). When I first signed up w/ them about a year ago, their customer service was next to nill & "help" was not at all helpful. I could not get a straight answer from anybody. After that point, I could not get any responses at all. I was able to locate their phone #, but to no avail, they have a recording directing you right back to their web site for their so-called help. When I tried to transfer my domain to another hosting service, I obviously couldn't reach anyone for the month that I tried. I had to go back to my original registrar, Verisign, & luckily they could help me. If you're looking for a hosting service, make sure you find one w/ a contact phone. But whatever you do, DO NOT USE HOSTSAVE!!!!!!!

A complete nightmare. I took over the support of this site, and neither the previous manager nor I could access the site via FTP. No response from Hostsave during two months of trying. Zero. Plus the domain name had been registered through them (via Melbourne IT), so I couldn't change the ISP.
I finally contacted the parent company Affinity (see contact information in previous review) and they told me the Registry Key to get access to the domain information through Melbourne. I am now very happily hosted at ICDSoft.

I've had very poor experience with tech support. They don't respond to my emails and there is no other way to reach them! I have quite a bot of trouble updating and editing my webpage as the server won't always accept the changes I've made. It's very frustrating as I can spend over an hour editing my website only to find that I save my revisions. I'm going to look around for a better quality host service and dump these losers ASAP!

They do not bother to respond to emails. It's very annoying to work with someone who do not reply to emails. Web stats are important to me and they do not run the report on regular basis. Have not started the stats for this month yet. Stay away from them if you are used to getting a reply to your emails.

We've used Host Save for over a year, and never had a problem. Downtime has been minimal. The recently updated control panel is easy to use to manage your account. I think many of the complaints about poor support must be from people who need their hand held to install a script or even to set up an email account.

The hosting service I believe is making an effort to improve but are truely missing the boat in providing tech support and decent billing/accounting availability. Honestly, buyer beware...if you put your credit card in their hands don't be surprised if you come up with unexpected charges...it happened to me and I couldn't get an answer as to what they were billing me for! In trying to set up monthly billing I was frustrated by no logical means of knowing they'd be billing me monthly... I saw quarterly billing amounts but no monthly. Their tech support is supposedly 24/7...I couldn't get an answer for 5 or 6 days via email and then it wasn't the correct answer - there is no human to talk to for support. My rating is based on trials of 3 different webhosting services that are comparible in prices and services (offered). My suggestion would be to check back with the company when they understand the importance of customer support. Then still find out (if you can) how they handle their billing and accounting. For now though, for both of these questions, I honestly doubt that you'd get an honest answer...if you don't mind waiting 5 days for the answer...then again you'd be talking to the "SALES" department - it might be quicker. I'm sorry Hostsave - Good luck in the future if you decide to appreciate and truely want to help your customers.

I wasn't going to mention this, but I see that others have had a similar problem and want to warn people about the possiblity.
I had 2 credit cards used for unauthorized internet charges and had to kill them both. The only place that I can think of where both of these numbers were available (other than my wallet) was at HostSave.

This host worked fine for me until I tried to leave. It has taken me over a year to get them to cancel my account. In the meantime, they have repeatedly tried to bill me and are now threatening to send it to their collections agency.

they upgraded their control panels a while back with no notice to users; my client, who is also hosted by them, had their web site inaccessable for more than 2 weeks, and they recieved no rebate. They also have no phone number to contact an actual person.

I have had 8 web sites with HostSave over aperiod of about 3 years. Something has happened in the past six months. Frontpage extensions get reset for no apparent reason. This ruins a discussion web. Due to a cancelled credit card that was stolen, racemrann.com has been down for 7 continuous days over a billing issue. HostSave made no effort to contact me. They just turned off the site. They will not respond to phone calls, email, certified mail. I am now in the process of changing servers. It will be the last web to move off of their server.

The host was slow to respond to inquiries. They stated they were up 99.9% of the time which I found untrue. They automatically renewed my service after my cancellation then ignored any e-mail inquiries. The phone number they left on the CC bill was out of order. I had to dispute the charges and go through a lengthy process to get my money back. I wouldn't use them again!

I've had sites hosted with HostSave for over two years, and while the technical offering has got better the support and service has become dreadful. E-mail is regularly unavailable for many hours. Most recently, my billing cycle had come up, but my CC had expired. I received an e-mail saying that I had 7 days to update my CC info, or they would disable my account. I updated in 3 days, but they had already switched off my account. It is the weekend now, my site is disabled and I cannot get to speak with anybody to fix it. I am moving away from HostSave as soom as I can. (I have more than one account with them)
I did speak to Affinity (their parent co's) support 1-800-753-6329 but his attitude was basicly "what do you expect from a cheap hosting plan?", and refused to put me through to a supervisor or give me _any_ useful information. He did admit that the HostSave tech support folks were just cubicles away, but he refused to even pass a PostIt over to them.
Bottom line is, just OK when it works, but don't expect to be able to get any joy from them when things go wrong. And, to be honest, when I started $8 a month was cheap. That's not the case anymore, and I don't think $8 for zero support and no DB is competitive.

Their tech support is non-existent. I have had outstanding issues for over a month with no reply. They double billed me for a years service and have yet to reply to that inquiry. It took almost a month for them to get our site up. After offering a month free I knew why. I highly recommend going with anyone bu Host Save.

Well...I have used them for almost 14 months with little problem until I had to renew.
DId not realize my time was due and they did NOT email me my invoice as they said they would.
I went on vacation and found my website gone with that "Unable to Fetch Domain" message.
I paid the renewal the next morning and am STILL down! FOUR DAYS LATER!
I am bugging the crap out of Affinity and its subsidiaries to get them to turn it back on.
I WILL be moving to ICD Soft

I am running 3 websites with Hostsave, and I´ve never had any serious technical issues, in exception of slow response time once or twice. I have had some issues with hostsave in the beginning, but these were mainly my fault because I did not know anything about how to set up a website. The technical support was not very good, but eventually I got the advise I needed. When Hostsave upgraded their servers recently it did not affect my websites. Only the stats were not accessible for ten days. So far, I am quite happy with their service.

I should have known that when I didn't get any log in information for 3 days I was in for some trouble. And then again when it took them a week to get back to me about problems I was having their email configurations... I couldn't even get an email to be sent from my site's sign up form to my email. They wrote back saying I had my email client configured wrong even though I was getting 'undeliverable'/'host unreachable' messages back when trying to test messages to my mail accounts.
There is no support what-so-ever. If they do reply to you they tell you that you must have something setup wrong or that they are aware of the problem and it will be corrected in 24hrs. 24HRS my butt... The clock they must go must be traveling at the speed of light or something because the last time I checked my watch it was 8 days!!
If you're concerned about monthly prices -- Seriously consider building your own webserver before joining them.

Basic service is quite fast. And cheap.
Support is pathetric, email only, and just very frustrating. I will try and get out of here soon.
Also, updating to more emails space of traffic is just ridiculously expensive. Eg. doubling you traffic almost multiplies your price by 3.

Absolutely the worst hosting service! In the beginning they were ok, but that went down hill fast! They have no tech support, only occasional reply form letters and they just don't care! I run a vacation rental business and for the past few weeks I have not received a single email (I was stupid enough to switch over all my addressed to my @halekoolau.com server through HostSave. I usually get 2-3 email inquirires per day and 2-5 bookings per week. Since they "updated" their system I cannot access my account and they deleted my email routing features! I've lost thousands of dollars in bookings and my business is suffering because of them. I'm switching today!

Terrible Service. They say they will contact you within 24 hours. After 4 e-mails to Tech Support, and 1 e-mail to Billing, I still haven't gotten a response, and they never did get the Front Page working for my site. They appear to be affiliated with Cybergate Inc., Affinity Internet, and Value Web all out of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. I wouldn't use any of them for anything either.

My site went down a week ago. I contacted them through their site and got the usual message about how I should expect a response in about 24 hours. Well, it's been 7 days and my site is still down, and I've had no response whatsoever from them, despite, repeated daily inquiries on my part. This is totally unacceptable. I'm assuming they're going out of business. By all means do NOT use hostsave, as I have only bad things to say about them at this point. The utter lack of any repsonse was frustrating, appalling, infuriating. I've moved my site. Now all I want is a refund -- because they just charged my credit card for another quarter of service! Outrageously bad service.

I thought they were pretty good at first, seemed pretty inexpensive, OK so the email would be unavailable 2-3 days a month, sometimes I couldn't ftp anything to them, the address didn't work. OK, so I finally got my first support response to a problem I reported TWO MONTHS EARLIER! Now my website has been nonexistent on the internet and I have no email access since May 8 (that's 7 days and counting), there is nothing but auto reply support email, no phone number, and worst of all, the site says if you want to cancel, refer to the Account Cancellation FAQs which DO NOT EXIST! I called my credit card company and am disputing my current charge and they gave me a billing phone number which gave me a recorded message with a hostsave email (billing@hostsave.com) but it's not even a company phone number. These guys are scammers! Don't go with them!

Back on April 12 I signed up with them, but had problems with their signup page saying my discover card was expired (which it wasn't). On April 13 I got e-mail saying "welcome to hostsave" and my domain I picked (www.notgonnatakeitanymore.com) went active the week after that (with a default "coming soon" page). On April 24 I got e-mail saying they'd charged my card.
I checked the site periodically over the following two or three weeks, just to make sure it was there, and it was.
Last Wednesday night (May 8), I tried to actually put something on there, and the browser says it can't even find this domain name anymore. So I went to HostSave.com and filled out their tech support page, and submitted it.
The next evening (Thursday May 9), the site name still didn't work, so I submitted another tech support request page.
Friday (May 10) it still wasn't working at lunchtime, so I sent a plain e-mail to their tech support and billing addresses, saying if it wasn't working by noon Saturday I was going to contact my credit card company and dispute the charges. About a half-hour after I sent this e-mail, I got a generic "we'll get back to you as soon as possible" e-mail from them.
Monday (May 13) at lunchtime it still wasn't working. So I called Discover Card and asked them to revoke the charges, which they said they would. They also gave me the address they had for HostSave:

I looked this up on switchboard.com and found two phone numbers: (310) 354-2626 (310) 524-3000
So I thought folks might like this information.
I have checked on Yahoo's domain name registry service, and they think notgonnatakeitanymore.com is already taken. So, I was wondering what I needed to do to transfer this domain name to somewhere else. I'm sure the crap will hit the fan when they realize I've told Discover card to revoke the charges, but I don't care.
I have already told many people about this domain name, and that it's "coming soon", so I would like to keep it. I'm using it as a part of a political campaign, so it's time critical.
I went with HostSave.com on the recommendation of a single friend who has a site there. He's had no problems so far. I just wish I'd have checked webhostingratings.com first!

My site and email has been down for four full days, and four queries to their support staff have gone unanswered (except by an auto-response). This is the second time they have gone down in the past two weeks. Unless you have money you want to throw away, I would definitely avoid them. If you are another current customer, please scroll down the page to the message that shows the information on filing a complaint with their local Better Business Bureau. Show HostSave that they can dump their customer service, but they can't stay in business.
