By some glitch in their system, my e-commerce website has been dropped from the
Internet.  I contacted them 3 days ago, and they will NOT respond! I have been calling their tech support, billing and customer service phone numbers for the past 3 days, and no one is picking up their phones!! I emailed them a 3 tech support emails, following their directions, and they keep deleting my inquiries! Meanwhile, my site is down, and my customers cannot reach me! I am thoroughly upset with this company, especially since they bill themselves as a top-customer support company!! After almost 2 years with this company, and what I thought would have been more professional treatment, I am switching my web host provider today.

This has been the worst and most frustrating experience I have had with any hosting company. They have been updating their servers, and one of my sites hosted by them has been down for three days. I have opened three support tickets simply pointing out that my site is down and so is my email server. I did not attack them or use any strong words. My support tickets sit open for half a day and are simply deleted. I have had no reply at all to even tell me what is up. I found this site looking for a new host, and have found it very usefull. Stay away from this company. I have hosted with them for two years now, and can't believe I have not looked elswhere sooner. As I sit and type this message, my phone to their technical support has been ringing for about 30 minutes now. after a few hours of busy signals.

I've had little problems with these people. I have more than two years running my websites with them. I use the many features they offer, such as PHP, MySQL, counter, stats, POP mail, etc. All of them work fine, and if I have a problem I just log on the support panel and my problems get solved as easy as 1-2-3.

I recommend on my website http://www.mailforprizes.com at the advertisers' section. It worked for me, so can it work for you.

Signed up with NMF about 3 years ago. It was simply $200 one-time payment. Last year I got a "annual fee" notice for $35. After bickering with them, I eventually paid it. Now I just got a notice for a $70 annual fee! NMFs my rear end. Plus the server I'm on is crap. "99.91% average uptime", I find that really hard to believe. In fact it's down right now! Stay away!

One day my POP3 malbox (containing weeks of customer contacts) was gone. Support told me I have exceeded the allowed mailbox size of 1MB and the box was deleted without warning. In fact I found this rule in their online FAQ - BUT IT WAS NOT IN PLACE WHEN I SIGNED UP AND I WAS NOT INFORMED WHEN IT WAS INSTATED!
They just said that's they way it works and offered a restoration from their backup at US$50 per file.
I am looking for a different provider now!

I started with nomonthlyfees in November 1999 and now have about 6 sites hosted with them. I used to recommend my clients go with a monthly feed account, but not anymore. I am now used to dealing with NMF and am used to their customer service etc. I don't like needing to learn new systems all the time. I like NMFs system, and I continue to recommend them to anyone.

I love their automated features, and actually, I like their stats too - tho I think that some of them don't quite work the way the have them set up.

The control panel, according to the way they (NMF) think I access it, is always down, but I bypass their annoying frames version of it, and just access the control panel directly. It has never been down when I did that.

They did about a year ago start treating all their customers like idiots, which I too detest. Especially (am I allowed to name names here? I won't for now, but his name starts with J) He never once answered a question I had - he always answered what HE THOUGHT my question was. I hate that. After about 3 of those, I started getting a little annoyed. They put that down as being rude and told me to open a new ticket and be more polite (I do not need to be reprimanded like a child).

I too have had the laughable fun of their systems not working, telling us to e-mail the address, then answering the e-mail telling us that we should have used the ticket. I too then pick up the phone and just deal with someone. Oh, Mr D. he is fun. Don't get him on the phone coz he put me on hold for 10 minutes, even when he just picks up the phone, without even talking to me.

Their customer service leaves a LOT to be desired, but overall, if you get the females on the technical support, you actually get things done and done properly. Missy, Valerie, I love you gals. Wonderful service. Sorry to be sexist, but the guys are just techies - no communication skills at all (and not all that good at the tech part either). The women have much more tact and they too can get the job done.

As far as systems go and ease of use, here are my 3 "worst things"

The worst thing this company could have done, is to turn off the 10-day trial. I loved that feature. I could set up all the accounts, and then have my client pay for it. Wonderful. Now my client has to go searching through the site and do the transaction. Not fun.

The second worse thing they could have done is change systems without fully testing. Yes folks, in 2001, while I was in the US on holiday, they decided to mess with their systems, knocked my IP address out of whack, and killed half my site. Just the sort of thing you want to deal with while sightseeing. And just after we finished getting everything to work in their new screwed up system, they changed everyone back... and we got to start all over again.

The third worse thing they could have done is to try and charge me for my account when I signed up for lifetime webhosting. I noticed some people mentioned that. When you sign up with these guys, the agreement they have on the site at the time, is the agreement you live by, so print it out, so you can read it to them when they try to get more money out of you than they should. They are not allowed to charge you more than what you agreed to when you sign up. They try, but don't let them.

They don't charge anything on some of my accounts, but if I want to upgrade, or change my account name, they will start charging. So I am keeping my mouth nicely shut now, and just leave things where they are.

I have 2 lifetime accounts, and they are life time - no fees. I have one $35 per year account, and I am still paying $35 per year. If I want to upgrade to 500MB, then I can, but I have to pay $70 per year. I think I'll stick with 200MB. The other accounts are all $70 ones and have 500MB and that's fine with me.

Overall, I love nomonthlyfees, but hate their customer service. I haven't needed customer service very much in the last 3 years, so I can honestly say that I would recommend these hosts. However, if you are one of those people who need customer service, forget nomonthlyfees. Or better yet, find yourself another nomonthlyfees client, and get them to help you. I help other NMF users, and give them much better service than NMF ever gave me :) Anything I can't handle and really is a NMF problem, I use customer support for.

I have been with NMF since October 2000.  I have a few issues with them.  The first is the tech support, or lack thereof.  I worked Unix tech support at Lucent for 18 months, so I have an idea of what level one and level two tech support is.  When I do have problems with my site, the techs at NMF usually can not fix them, they get resolved by system admins or system programmers.  I do not have problems that often, though.

E-mail.  I have experienced the web-based e-mail deletion problem often.  Also, I use Outlook 2000.  I consistently get the error in Outlook 2000 that "no transport service was available".  I have addressed this issue with NMF, but it has yet to be resolved.

I love the speed on NMF.  It is great.  Love the Unix interaction since I am a Unix admin.  Good uptime.  My site has only been down two or three times since Oct 2000, and one of those times was my fault.  They have a lot of point and click attributes for the non-techie, which is also good.  Plus, now that I can enable my own control panel instead of putting in a help desk ticket to get it enable, things are great

For $70 per year, you get what you pay for.  I feel that this worth the $70.

I have used NoMonthlyFees.com for MANY years, and I refer everyone I know to them, 5 associates have used them and also rave about them.  For a one time $200 fee you cant beat it.  Down time is negligible and I've only had email trouble for a few hours 2 times in as many years. They have alwyas quickly resolvee my support issues via email or their online support desk.

They offer a standard set of features for a Linux host. Transfer speed is very good, uptime is decent (sometimes disconnects for a few minutes, very seldom longer than that). Built in control panel is okay but the stats program is mediocre at best.

Customer service is effective, but they usually seem to be in a hurry and don't read the tickets carefully. It sometimes takes a few tries to get your point across, but they usually fix it quickly once you do.

A couple years ago they were the cheapest guys on the block. Lately the price and features seem to be losing their competitive edge.

They will register your domain for you, but I've found I get better control if I register it myself and transfer it in.

In summary, nomonthlyfees is good enough to keep around, and I will probably buy more accounts in the future.

Too Big for their britches!! - Review by Anonymous submitted on March 29, 2002

I have 3 domains hosted with this company, one of them a client site.
Initially, support was good and had good response time.  However, over time, they have taken the "all pervasive" attitude that their customers are ignorant louts that don't deserve their time or attention.  I destest this! No one knows everything and this is WHY I pay them! Eventually my web-based email, online tech support and control panel problems started.

First problem was not being able to delete email.  Their web-based email is ok, but you cannot save anything to folders, they just are not available and you can't use HTML to sent email, although you can receive it. However, when you delete email, it is supposed to be gone forever once you logout of your account.  Periodically, when I would log out, and then log back in later in the day, or the next day, all the crap I'd gotten rid of was back! Their initial response....YOU DIDN'T LOG OUT! Well...I sure did.  I'm not in the habit of walking around in a coma!!

So, I tried to send a support ticket, but kept getting an error message with an email address to report the problem.  Every time I'd write to this address, specifically telling them what the problem was, I'd get a response from a "tech" (laughable term), telling me that I should file a tech support ticket and NOT write to this address anymore! HELLO! Dummies!!

Finally resolved THAT issue by phone!

Then my email became inaccessible as did my control panel, so that I couldn't even get in to reroute mail until THIS problem could be resolved.

When I wrote about this, my tech ticket sat UNASSIGNED for over 14 hours! (They claim, in writing, that your problem will be addressed in 30 minutes or less!) Finally, after complaining in additional entries on this ticket, I received a response that THEY were able to access my email.

I responded with a barb that stated that this was great...however, I was the customer and I couldn't access it OR MY CONTROL PANEL and since I was the one paying, I really felt that I should be the one with access!!!

BTW, making this monumentally intellignet statement, they closed my tech support ticket as resolved! Needless to say, I reopened it, more than once, as the problem was not reaolved by any means!

I might add here that I have several members of my staff, which have email addresses on this domain, who reside in different parts of the country and THEY couldn't access the email either! This went on for 4 days!!

Finally, after additional phone calls and reopening of tech ticket several time, everything was working again, with no explaination as to the problem.

This particular domain will remain with NMF until it is time to renew my yearly registration, which they stated would never exceed $35.00...however, they have added an additioinal $35.00 service fee to renew your domain each year...after the fact.  I think that all domains hosted with them should have been "grandfathered" under the old agreement, however, this is how they make their money, so be it....they can do it without me!

I will be looking for hosting eleswhere for all domains hosted with them...the monthly sooner than later and the "lifetime" prior to expiration of the yearly contract.

I refuse to PAY someone to treat me like the village idiot....I can get THAT service for free, just about anywhere!!

I had problems with Front Page Server extensions that didn't get resolved until I removed site and replaced it multiple times. Very tie consuming. Then I got charged for exceeding the transfer limit.

REALLY had trouble with e-mail.  Two week after moving to the domain. We were not getting over half of our new group messages.  Their support staff is responsive, but ineffective.  They do not know what they are doing.  If the problem has not come up before they have no clue

I signed up with nomonthlyfees.com back when they promised $35/year "forever" . They have since raised the price to $70/year. The upside is they give you 500megs now instead of 200megs, but that's more than I'll ever need. They have excellent support and uptime despite what the other user review says, but I'm going to switch hosts because I don't know if they'll pull a price change on everyone again...

First off I didn't give the URL because it was for a non-profit charity organization.

This is a great concept, but remember that you get what you pay for! I've founf the service tech's to be most inadiquate.  The 1st reaction to any problem is to tell the custumer that the problem is on their end. For 3 days I had tech's telling me my site was fine and it was not down.On day 4 they reported that they had a "catistrophic" server problem, but for 3 days IT WAS MY PROBLEM???? All that I wanted was an explination and apoligie, all I got was a run around!
