I develop and sell websites and eite content, I have 5 websites hosted at readyhosting. I have been a client for over a year and I can tell you I have had my share of problems with this company. First I have had a few of my sites suspended for what they said was spamming. I never spammed anyone. Second they took forever to get the sites back up and when they did they didn't reactivate ftp and I had to call them back. I have also had allot of problems with the sites getting very slow. They are not doing a very good job with their site to server racito. I have allot of issues with the email servers crashing as well. Support is very unprofessional and they have rairly been able to help me. I think they need to learn to shield other sites from poor query design from other sites using coldfusion. I have called in many times to inform them that the sites were down to findout that someone had a query loop eating uo all the server resources. I am currently looking for new hosting for all my sites.

I try to be as objective as possible which of course is not an easy task if you deal with readyhosting.com.
THE PLAN: right now my server is again down since 5 hours !!! it all started over a year ago. as i signed up with readyhosting they needed very long to set up my account. but to that time i didn't do anything fancy with my website so i didn't care to much. the more i got involved into the website and the more possibilities i used the more i needed their service to fix things that were not working properly and should have worked first place. for me a puzzle how they can set up an account from scratch and still manage to do it the wrong way. 8 month later i tried using frontpage extensions and guess what i was horrified by the discovery i made!!! i created a simple network connection through through windows which can be accomplished in two simple clicks do and discovered that everybody HAD DIRECT ACCESS TO MY SERVER WITHOUT BEEING ASKED FOR A PASSWORD!!!!! so this was a big shock people supposed to know what they are doing in reality readyhosting.com employees lack in knowledge. they fixed it but never apologized. these people don't know what they are doing .. then in february 2002 they got hacked right at the time i started my business and what can i say all customer emails got lost without notification email that their email never reached me and i could not send out a single email for weeks. then i signed with an isp to get at least reliable email!!! after a couple days and not beeing able to reach anybody they send an email that they have been hacken ... but even 3 weeks after the hack my emails still didn't get to me. they have one easy plan and take every component out that is in danger to be hacked and still since they do not have people that know their stuff they still managed to get hacked !!! and right in this very minute i again can't access my website, my email, my stats and even readyhosting.com themselves. looks like they got hacked again. what a stupid bundle !
THE HOSTING PLAN FEATURES: They let it sound like they have the best plan but they do not mention the drawbacks that explain why that service is so cheap: Examples: - There is no such thing as unlimited Bandwidth - If Statistik server is size limited as well and stoppes recording statistics if you have to much volume - the php features do not work 100% on my server - the most important component of CGI SENDMAIL doesn't work. they deaktivated it because of the danger to be hacked - if you programmed an asp or php mailinglist it doesn't work because they do not support mailinglists ... - there is no way they have an uptime of 99%. like now my server is down very very often ... - as mentioned at the beginning just right now 11/01/2002 - 7:09AM i am waiting for 6 hours to access my website but with no avail !
THE TELEPHONE SUPPORT: The customer service by phone is horrible. don't even try to call it is always busy and if you get a hold of somebody they have you on hold and cut you off.
THE ONLINE SUPPORT: With one word HORRIBLE! you have to enter your login information three different times until you get a chance to create a trouble ticket (support request). so now if they answer i thought checking the box that says receive email when they answer would be easy. reality you get an email that they responded but in that email no information about what they responded so you have to supply your login again three times to get into the trouble ticket system to read the response. this is a very bad online support.
this was my story and i can reassure you this is only the tip of the ice berg and more than enough for people to find out invest a couple bucks more for a webservice that has people that know there stuff, invest their money for customer support and not in racing car sponsoring. which ticks me off .. they sponsor some racing car s.... and should invest this money to employ better people and improve their customer support ...
the 2 of 10 they got because there was no 0 of ten and i felt have a problem that i feel sorry for people like they are ...
take care bert

Was promising in 2001 and 2000, went down the hill rapidly in 2002. Inaccessible FTP for uploading, poor support response, victim of hack attacks, slow service, unable to update site or resolving billing issues. Plan to leave them shortly.

Customer support they are not and in fact, very rude. If you have a very simple website, they will do. Anything else, forget it. This site has been down numerous times to the point, you can't even access your webpage. Also, they had a major hack attack a few months back and told no one until a few weeks later. Again, no customer support.
A letter we wrote to them regarding issues.
To Whom It May Concern:
For the past month I have been receiving emails from all over the world regarding our site being up and down, consistently. In fact, four other sites dropped us because of this. Doing your online ticket for support has been nothing but a frustration and in fact, accomplished nothing. I might add, we did three tickets over the past month. It was only yesterday when we called your tech support line that we got the matter resolved and guess what, it was on your end after being notified with your online ticket support it was on our end.
“46949, 'Note Inserted by Trouble Ticket System, Ticket 102904 for Other was Completed on 2002-10-23 14:10:58 -- Mike Herbrechtsmeier Took the following actions The site and your server have been up and running. If your users are not able to access the site have them try and run a trace route to see if the problem is a router issue. The problem is not on our end. The network admin is currently correcting the issue with the stats for the server your site is on. You will be able to access your stats shortly. Thank you to resolve.”
Because of this and other issues regarding your service, (stats statistics still down and has been for 10 days. We get paid based on the number of hits and just lost a weeks worth of revenue, about $80 on the average), we have elected to transfer the site over to Spiderlink.com effective immediately.
Furthermore, we will be placing a overview of services on Yahoo and Alta Vista about your services and the problem we encountered.
The transfer will be completed next Friday, November 1, 2002, and at the time, I am asking the all balances be credited back to us.

When we had our site up, we had no problems at all, and it really was unlimited transfer amounts. We had no complaints of slowness either. No problems whatsoever, but then, we don't need babying. I thought the customer service wasn't the greatest, but then, I wasn't paying for the service, I was paying for good server service.

$99 per year is the right price... But DO NOT host a legitimate business where traffic is important. I have had a LOT of downtime. If it isn't the server I am hosted on, it's the server my database is hosted on. I have downtime weekly - sometimes several hours at a time. When I DO have working servers, their latency and packet loss are unacceptable. pings run about 100-120msec, and packet loss is often 10-25%.
Their support does know their ass from their elbow and "mysterious" things keep happening to my site.
Avoid this host if you can afford something a little higher quality.

My problem seems to have come up before based on other reviews.. It deals with the Cold Fusion server always being busy or down and the fact that after hours or on weekends there is no one to help!
Most recently on a Friday evening at about 9pm our site went down because someone else on the same server was hogging CF server... I am still here waiting (It's Saturday now) for someone to deal with this.
Basically it means I have to wait until Monday morning 11am EST to get this fixed!
Imagine how bad this must be for business.
So I think the best way to sum it up is to say you get what you pay and make sure you know what you want to get.
In other words, if this is your first time hosting with someone and you want to get your feet wet, then the $99 is fine, especially if it's only HTML, but as soon as you are ready for serious hosting with serious service and accountability/responsibility then you must up your budget.
Instead of $99 per year you may have to spend $240 a year, but you get what you pay for.

Their support stinks. They take forever to respond to support requests and when you are lucky enough to get someone on the telephone, they immediately talk down to you before they even know who you are or what you might actually know. The entire system is confusing and very, very uncustomizable. They do not understand the meaning of "user friendly."

They are terrible, rude and they tried to bill me after my contract expired. They DID remove the extra charge, but they never apologized. I would never use them again. If you want to get an idea of the rudeness check out the reply to the post from the person who hosted buzibee.com with them. The response is so rude. Their "ticket" system is terrible. I have not been with them in almost 8 months and I received an e-mail from them about the "hacker" problem.

I have a site that includes several video clips in Windows Media, Quicktime and Real Player formats When I first signed up with Readyhosting about 4 months ago everything seemed to be working fine Later their service became intolerably slow. A 2 megabite movie that use to start downloading and playing almost right away...now began taking around two minutes to download. My clients started to complain that movies they were trying to download were taking too long. Several attempts to have Readyhosting move my site to a different server were to no avail. Finally, I bit the bullet and went with another host...OLM. So far, so good. My movies are downloading much faster now. If you are thinking of posting video on the web so your friends or clients can view them, Readyhosting is probably not a good way to go. If you are currently with Readyhosting and have video on your site, compare the download speed of your clips to mine on OLM. Go to http://egeefay.com/samples1.htm and sample the download speed . Compare them to what you are getting with OLM (sample them during the day. Readyhosting works ok at night) If you aren't satisfied, switch. You'll pay about $10 more a month...but if you are using it for business... it's worth it.

I'm writing this one right to Ready Host. First of all, most of the reviews tell the story. I saw maybe 5 good reviews out of 100's. That 5 symbolizing the rare lucky customers. As for the rest, horrible.
Problems with hacking, stolen credit cards, sites down for no reason, slow servers (on the rare occasion they’re actually running), and unprofessional (if not downright rude) customer service responses. And of course (sarcastically) none of this is their fault. And they have a reason (every one complex) for everything. Calling someone an idiot was due to a spellcheck error or something. They monitor site downtime, but rarely catch it. Even though they have beepers, and some kind of other backup thing. Their response, "well, the beepers don't work some times, and sometimes the backups don't work either."
Hey Christina Wirth (the most frequently referred to higher up representing the company, the easiest target), I sure see you on the board a lot. Responding to people's complaints, trying to make up excuses to the reasons things went wrong. Trying to cover up your tracks. If you were really sorry for what you did (this is what I would do, being the blunt and honest person that I am) you'd put your hands behind your head and take complete responsibility for your mistakes. Then most of all, fix all of them and start out fresh and clean from that point on.
I heard one guy say, "This host doesn't cost very much, you can't expect a miracle from these guys."
You know what Christina Wirth? I don't care if your hosting service costs dirt. Your running a company, and people are trusting you to do it responsibly. I'm sure your wallet's fat after this one, or you would have either cleaned it up or bailed out (the company that is).
An honest business owner in this predicament wouldn't have time to scroll through a web hosting ratings message board, trying to justify their wrongs. They'd be working their rear ends off, even though it's not your position (considering your low budget leaves you understaffed). Whatever anyone says, it doesn't sound like your doing everything you can to help these poor people out.
I'm sure it will all come down to the fact I was never a customer. I never experienced the living hell this company is, and the customer service department molded from the clay of satin. The fact is, all I did was do the tortured customers a large favor and put together bad experiences together. Experiences now on a message board that symbolizes their pain and anguish. Trying to band together these tortured souls to fight back against evil in the form of a web hosting company.
It all comes down to the fact that the company works for the customer. Period. There's nothing else to say, no matter how you try to avoid or deny. I wonder if you'll see that little red banner hanging off this message with Christina Worth's (or some other company representative’s) name on it. My answer to any of your denials (besides the rest of my letter) is don't try to ask for my forgiveness. There's 100 sum-deserving customers that need it more.
As another guy said, there's my 2 cents. But I didn't just drop it here, I'll be back to check it out.

I've hosted with these guys for over a year, and as a web developer, I've brought over maybe 8 or so other sites to them. However, since February, their service has gone to hell. I keep constantly getting "high traffic" errors from the CF server, like maybe one of the bazillion sites on each of their servers ran an endless CFloop or something and brought down the server. One time, this stayed like this for almost a week! And at the time, I was on the job hunt, so God knows how many jobs I didn't get because potential employers checked out my site and it was DOWN.
For the past month, it's been okay, until last night. I was supposed to have an afternoon today meeting with a client to finish up a site. The client e-mailed me last night that the site was down, and when I got home to check my email, sure enough... it was dead. "High traffic" crap again.
At noon, I called Readyhosting and told them my site was down. I was promptly informed that I was an IDIOT and that there was NO WAY the site was down since the night before, since the tech's log showed the site had only been down since "23 minutes" ago. He even read me off the seconds and milliseconds in a very sarcastic tone. He scoffed at the mere suggestion that something was wrong with their server. He then proceeded to inform me that the problem lay with me and my site, that something was wrong my code, when in fact I haven't changed the freakin' coding on the site in months!
When I asked to be transferred to a different server, he told me that I could do what I want, but "this server never goes down".
Ha. Bull. I'm dropping hosts, and filing a complaint against this idiot tech Brian.
The customer is always right. Why? Because they pay your check.

I just signed up with ReadyHosting.com and so far my site has been down a few times, and my email. However, just because my site is down a few times in the aftermath of a hacker is no reason to go ballistic on the whole company. The internet has enabled fickle people to spam sites like this. I read through most of the posts here and have found that there are about 100 or so fickle internet users out there. Unfortunate for ReadyHosting.com they were chosen by these people to host there sites. My site is only a personal site, so 100% uptime is left to more professional sites, and sites like the one I get to work on, we've got our own server at work, so downtime is our problem not some hosting company whose taking care of thousands of websites. Its a wonder that the internet works. If you work in IT like me, you would realize how fickle computers can be. Sometimes you just have to throw your hands up and ask someone smarter than you to do something.
As for system backups, I hope ReadyHosting.com has off server backups, not for my sites sake, but for their sake. Where I work data is taken off site so that backups are 100% guaranteed.
From reading these posts I am not going to leave ReadyHosting.com. I am going to give them a chance. They deserve faithful customers to give them the opportunity to prove themselves. That is the kind of trust they are trying to build with us (customers).
Like I said before, the internet has made it possible for fickle people to blab their most recent thoughts. My guess is that most of the negative commentors won't even check back here, they've said their two cents and they'll be gone. Me? I'm going to give ReadyHosting.com a fighting chance. Time will tell whether or not they are a good hosting service, not a few bad ratings by Anonymous people.
Thanks for listening to my 2 cents. Nate
PS No, I left another email so that I wouldn't get SPAM, not because I can't get email from my domain. My website will not be available because it is a personal site and I have it for friends and family to keep in contact. I am tired of SPAM.

They advertise PHP support. They advertise Microsoft SQL support for extra $$$. However, don't ever expect to get the two to actually talk back and forth. I am a veteran sysadmin, and its rather trivial to get it setup and running. Particularly, for a web hosting company sysadmin. However, it has been a battle since day one. Tech support cannot help, since this is the job of the sysadmin dept. However, the syadmin dept. is not available to talk to the public. So, after days of battles with their management, I finally get an okay, and Microsoft SQL is registered with PHP. However, thats it.. the sysadmin did not bother to actually configure anything beyond all the defaults, so PHP and Microsoft SQL still, after days of phone calls and emails, cannot talk to TCP/IP properly with a basic test script I have simply dropped on over a dozen other servers for testing purposes. Amazing a company with such poor performance can stay in business. The reason I didn't give them a "1" is because they atleast provided an 800# on their dime to keep me on the phone for hours, though one has to ask how much their time is worth.

I think some of these negative reviews are overreactions by people who expect fancy china service at paper plate prices. That's just plain unreasonable.
It's true that Readyhosting no longer has a support email address. The "ticket tracking" system they replaced it with is the worst thing about their tech support. Otherwise, they usually get to a ticket in about 24 hours. That's reasonable, for the price.
As a professional web developer, I have always maintained my own backups of both my content and databases. Anybody who "lost everything" (i.e., had no backups of their own) in the recent hacker attack doesn't have a legitmate complaint: It's just plain foolish to use your web server as the only repository of your content and data.
That malicious hacker attack cost Readyhosting a lot. During the recover period, while they were busting butt to rebuild, their support response time understandably went through the floor. But that apparently didn't stop a horde of impatient and unreasonable novices from inundating them tickets (and then wondered what was taking so long!).
I have experienced my share of problems and interruptions, but they have invariably solved all problems. I routinely work with sites hosted on NT servers, so I know better than to expect Unix-caliber performance from them in the first place. Having people who will work with you to resolve a problem is enough for me.
In short, Readyhosting provides a reasonable product for the price they charge. If you want "top notch" service, go elsewhere -- but be prepared to pay "top notch" prices too. If you're looking for a reasonable deal on NT hosting, Readyhosting is admittedly not perfect, but they're trying, and I'm a satisfied customer who's hosting five domains with them.

I have to thank you all who posted their reviews over here. Me, all my family, friends and coworkers bought about 160 domain names in bulk. And all of us were thinking about going to readyhosting (bigger bang for the buck). Now I am in the process of contacting them to inform them we will be going with someone else. What finally did it for me was response to Morris's review from Christina Wirth's (Vice President Ready Hosting, inc) "WHY DO YOU CONTINUE TO HOST YOUR DOMAIN WITH US?" That is completely unacceptable response coming from the vice president of a company. [moderation - snipped]. Can’t really blame the reps that work there if the company has that kind of a pillar.

No baloney... a huge 50 megabytes for $99 a year. Top-notch technical support. I set up ALL my clients' business Websites as well as ALL of my own because we demand reliabiility and no worries about other companies' money-making restrictions on data transfer. I see most of the review was bad ones. I would try to be fair here in my comments.
I registered with readyhosting in December 2001 (from friend's recommendation). Really good value at USD99 for 500MB per year. Instant and hassle free setup. I made some mistake during setup and the staff did a good and fast job in resolving my problem. Up to April 2002, I would say I got no problem at all with readyhosting. In the period, I never find my site or e-mail down and the speed is good.
My bad experience start in April. Few days back, I found that all my e-mails and my entire site was not accessible. I submitted a trouble ticket and I got a shock. The reply was "Your site was cancelled". My account suppose to last until December 2002, so I start complaining and they later replied that "Your site was cancelled BY MISTAKE". I really can't accept this cause my whole office is relying on the e-mail and it was just a few days to my site launch date. Everyone including my boss was screaming on me. Fine, they later come back and told me that they had restored my site, and they did, the site was up again after down for a day. However, I found that all my e-mail is still inaccessible. And up to now, it is already 3 days the e-mail was completely down.
I can still accept the downtime if your server was hit by technical problem or hacker, but for this time, my site and e-mail was down because readyhosting ACCIDENTALLY CANCELLED MY ACCOUNT. And I am not asking for much, just expecting them to do their very best to get my site and e-mail up ASAP since I feel that it was their mistake in the first place (sorry if you feel I am wrong). Due to urgency of the matter timezone difference, I stayed awake whole night for two nights just to wait for reply on my trouble ticket and I would say the reply sometime takes hours, although some do come in within minutes I submit them. Up to today, my e-mail is still down, all the staffs in my office complaining, my boss screaming at me, my client called and said all the mails to us bounced back, till now, there was still no solution and the worse is I am sitting down here and can't do anything about it. This case really got me into real trouble and almost cost me my job.
I take this as everyone make mistake, so I just hope my site and email will be running ASAP and hope that the same things will never never happen again to me.

Great price, and my site was up for the time they said it would be. Trouble tickets were answered quickly, but I wasn't too happy with the 10 minute hold time. I tried again away from the lunch hours, and it was shaved down to about 6 minutes. Overall, I am satisfied with what I have paid for so far.

I've been with readyhosting some time and have multiple domains there. They do offer a lot of features etc. but the quality of the service is poor and seems to be getting worse.
Downtime happens every day, some days seems to be an hour or so, other days 40 or 50 minutes, maybe more.
I'm living with the problems and don't need a lot of handholding nor am I going to scream if the site is down 20 minutes a day. But a BIG drawback of this service is Database problems.
I often use dsnless connections to access database for ASP programming, but forget using DSN-less connections on Readyhosting. They must be so overloaded it won't work and they refuse to take the steps necessary to make DSN-less connections work.
Ok, well I can live with that too, and use the slower DSN connection. It should be easy to set up with their control panel right? Wrong! The control panel set up usually doesn't work and you have to resort to calling or waiting for tech support to fix it. THEN, BE SURE and tell them to increase your DSN connection right from the start, otherwise you will get "too many clients connected" errors. It is just ludicrous!

I changed servers when my site stopped functioning, their phone number was disconnected and received no response from any emails I sent them. I did, however just receive a credit for the rest of my year's payment, 2 weeks after I sent an email instructing them to do so. I didn't expect a response, so I was surprised. If anyone had to change servers, try contacting billing at this number: 888-888-257-2052 opt #3 Obviously something happened and they should have tried to reach their customers. I gave them a 1 rating for the hassle, but added 1 for the credit. Good luck.

To get a response please visit the Dept. of Justice for the state of Wisconsin & file a complaint against this company. http://www.doj.state.wi.us/columns/complaint.asp My story: This host "LOST" my real estate website approximately 2+ months ago. They have NEVER responsed to one email or phone call. I did get hold of 'Jessica' twice. Her trick is to put you on hold & never come back or transfer you to a dept. that never picks up. One day I held for 1 hr. 45 mins. (speakerphone). No one EVER picked up. She picks up the phone, you tell her your status & she says, "Is this a billing or technical problem" repeatedly. They sent out 2 mass emails saying how they had been hit by 'hacker'. Right! They do not respond to their billing dept. emails when you file for a refund. THESE PEOPLE ARE DEFINATELY NOT PROFESSIONAL!! IF YOU WANT TO THROW AWAY YOUR MONEY--THIS IS A GOOD PLACE TO DO IT!

Email--up down up down up downdowndown Website--same story.
If they worked in IT at my company, I'd fire the lot of them.
Currently looking for new hosting company--so I guess in effect I AM firing them. Ha. Feel better already.

I have been hosted by this company for a year and everything was OK until last month. They were hacked, had no backup solution because they were "upgrading" and all of our work is gone. They said it is our responsibility to back up locally. Their customer service is poor, except when it comes to collecting your money! I cancelled with them and notified my credit card company because I hear they don't credit you either when you cancel. They won't be around long. And they have an attitude about it! See ya'

These guys had their act together 2 yrs. ago, nothing but downhill ever since. If you want to see the WORST example of an invoice, get a site w/ these con-artists. Hard to believe they can get away with some of the crap they pull. Don't let the 500 Mb offer play with your head; this company appears to be headed down the tubes. Nobody's manning the phones or email support - heck, they may have just bailed and left the servers behind. Oh yeah, they're currently down..have been for the last 3 or 4 hours. Embarassing.
