Before I ordered from UpTown Web Hosting, they answered my questions quickly and were very helpful.  Then I sent in my order.  I didn't get a confirmation or anything.  Two days later, I emailed them asking when my account would be activated.  Nothing.  I also found out that day that the cost of the virtual plan I'd ordered ($25) had been taken from my account.  Several emails and phone calls later (it's been almost two weeks), I have still heard nothing.  One day when I called, their phone disconnected after six rings each time.  Other times, I left messages.  Upon doing a WHOIS, I found out the domain is registered to Steve Vargo (presumably the "Steve" who had the outgoing message when I first called them).  I called the number associated with the domain info, and it said it was "temporarily unavailable." Their website is down now, as is heffran.com, the website of another person at UpTown, Jason Heffran.  There is also a "Jay" who works there.  I have filed a report with both sponsorfraud.com and the Better Business Bureau of Western Pennsylvania.  I have put a stop payment on my bank account so they can't take any more money, so there is also a report filed with them.  I will be sending a certified letter to Mr. Vargo on March 17.

I've been with Uptown Web Hosting (aka ViperAdult.com) for a couple of years.  3 days ago, my website went down and has been down ever since.  I tried calling them the first day and it went to an answering machine for someone named "Steve," but I never received a call back.  I then tried again the next day and by then, the calls were just being dropped as soon as the line was picked up.  I received no notice of any known outages.  There were no outage notifications on their voicemail.  Nothing.  Zip.  Zilch.  Needless to say, my site is now back up as of this evening with a DIFFERENT host which is actually also costing me half the price!

Oh, as an addendum, the president of Uptown (Jason) had promised me a refund a couple of months ago due to several days of downtime then. I never received that either.  I'm sure I probably won't be getting a refund on the remaining 2 weeks of what I have left on my current month since their service has been down this time either.

Three days ago my site and email went down - dozens of emails and phone calls later nothing from them. I am not even sure they are still up and running. Now, I have to pay to switch over to another hosting company and try and recreate my site "Adult Fan Clubs." Thanks, but no thanks Uptown

My site and theirs have both been down for 3+ days and still counting as of today.  This is totally unacceptable since e-mail, and Sql database are unreachable.  I can't even contact them to see what's the problem.  What's more, I just paid for this month's Bronze service.  I want a refund and will terminate my service with them if this keeps up for a few more days.

Your server goes down and you have to guess if it will ever be back up because uptown will not answer the phone or return email

Terrible hosting company. Site was always slow - as was their support. Their website seems to be down - as do all my sites. I have had to change hosting company as my sites have been offline for 48 hrs. I think they have ceased trading and also still owe me $100 due to duplicate billing - which I emailed them about (5 times) with no response. STAY WELL CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY.

Sure they're low priced.  But you'll need that to compensate for all the customers who cancel on you for your site being down.  Forget about them ever getting back to you.  You can get them on the phone about 1 try in 15--and it takes them forever to fix anything.

They simply ignore you , and if you ever catch them on the phone , they hang up on you , very rude !!!

The site was down more than it was up, and it was next to impossible to get tech support to respond to anything.  The last straw was when my email quit working and I called them for 5 straight days.  Never got a single response and have never heard from them since.

I had trouble with transferring my domain name to Uptown Web Hosting....I left several emails using addresses that they supply for sales (sales@uptownwebhosting.com), for billing (billing@uptownwebhosting.com) and for information (info@uptownwebhosting.com). i left several voicemails at 2 different phone numbers provided (866-350-HOST and 850-233-5259).  i created an esupport ticket that the company even states on their voicemail greeting can be used for immediate responses.  to date, i have not received a return phone call, a return email message (not even an auto-respond message that they received the message), and my esupport ticket remains open with no response (i only received an auto-respond msg that the message was sent to the help desk).....phone support is from 9a-9p PST and i continually called several times every hour and voicemail always picked up....i have yet to see the "unavailable" message disappear from the link to the online support chat.  my colleague and i watched it round the clock for 2 days and it was constantly unavailable.  i am currently trying to find out from "Liveperson", the company that powers their online chat, if they capture the actual times the chat system is in use.  on the date of this submission, i emailed and called Uptown and asked them to cancel my order and not to charge my credit card in january.  i suspect that this company is run by a couple people and they are trying to look bigger than they really are and are in over their heads! there is definitely some false advertising going on here! whatever the case, i will find out! i rated a "1" to uptown's value because i never received any service from them.

I've had a site with them since March of 2000 and can't really remember any downtime or problems.

I cannot discount, nor can I verify this claim with the information given.

It is possible that this person had a less than adequate experience with our services. I would be interested to know the domain, as well as other pertinent information so that if there were verified problems, steps can be taken to reduce the possibility of a recurrence.

Overall, I can say with positive assurance that we have a happy customer base. Some very high profile sites host with us and we server over 10,000,000 pages per day.

I invite anyone to try our services out. I would hope that this individual had an unfortunate, but relatively isolated incident.
