I've been with them for over 3 years and I should have moved along time ago. My site has often been down - for example one week in June, because of an outage. And last week they upgraded the OS without warning me, adding a security patch which broke a production site. Nearly a week later the site is still not fully working because they haven't restored my SSL. They can't fix it because "the person who accesses the certificates isn't in". Shambles - avoid them. Needless to say, I've now signed up with another web host.

El servicio funciona muy mal, los servidores estan caidos muchos dias al mes y tiene serios problemas tecnicos. Estoy desde hace 4 años cuando era 9NetAvenue y luego Concentric y el servico ha decaido mucho.

I have 10 sites hosted with XO. Their customer service is outstanding. Have never had a problem with them. Have never had a site down. Been with them for 4 years. Different plans for different needs. Thay've got alot going with them especially since merging with microsoft.

They have started reviewing cgi scripts, and renamed my formmail.pl script because it was insecure. They did this without notice and without warning, taking a key part of my site offline suddenly.
I tried to update my script to the latest version of Matts formmail,pl, but it wouldn't run with their perl. I have also had other supposedly standard perl scripts that wouldn't run.
So I found and installed the nms formmail.pl script, and it worked OK for about two months. Then XO changed something and broke the script, again taking down my site. When I discovered it, I rolled back to the old, insecure formmail.pl since I need that site up and running, submitted a trouble ticket, and told them I'd move my site if they disabled the formmail.pl again prior to resolving the problem.
Not 12 hours later, they disabled the formmail.pl script and have provided me with no reason why the other script abruptly broke - they must have changed their perl.
I'm moving the site right now, and am leaving this review since I discovered this site.

The best machines I never have found. No outages, no server failures, e-mail servers always on.
But support is another story. They never answer what you are asking for.
:)
I think 9 points are "too much" for this web hosting service, but their machines and servers are REALLY the best and thas is what I think is the key of a good hosting company.

Our organization lost its webmaster, and its logon and passwords along with her. Numerous letters later, we still have no access to our website. I cannot believe the terrible service offered by XO, who continues to invoice us even though they will not help up access our pages. A very sad experience, to say the least.

I was switched to XO without notification when they bought up a number of smaller hosts (in my case, 9netavenue). Though their introductory email stated that nothing would change, I was suddenly charged a year's hosting at $56.95 a month when I had been paying $13.95 a month for 9netave service. I also started experiencing intermittent service, with about 20% downtime. I never was able to get tech support to acknowledge this problem, and left XO very unsatisfied and much poorer.

Hosting with XO has been a horrible experience for me. My site has been down over a span of 3 days, they've only contacted me once, and now they claim that they're having trouble restoring the hundreds of records that were stored in my SQL Server database.

Unix servers are great but they don't offer many perks to Windows customers. (I love the logs though)

Haven't had any major technical problems, but have two big complaints: 1) They FORCE you to accept THEM as your name server (due to the way they round-robin DNS) 2) You can't POP their Web-based e-mail.

I've had favorable experiences with XO. The speed at which my site operates has been a major reason for staying with XO for so long. I am an original customer of Concentric, and unlike many of my clients who have had their hosts bought by other companies, found the merger improved certain features and was seamless.
I am wise enough not to rock the boat when I am pleased with the performance, but I can't help but notice you can get far more for far less with other hosts. Add to this my concern about the future of the company, which has just filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

I've had about 2 dozen domains hosted with 9NetAvenue/XO via a reseller account for 4 years or so now. The hosting has been reliable though I have had some mysterious email outages that no-one has been able to track down.
Aside from this, their sales people are pretty "economical with the truth". I was told that the storage space allocations excluded server log files but now the vast majority of my space is taken up with logs that I can't prune. Tech support is also less than excellent - it took them about 4 months to get SSL set up on one of my accounts a couple of years ago and I had one occasion where a mistake in their billing dept caused all my domains to be shut down without any warning.

I originally started with Concentric.net which was bought by XO. I've always had good service, 24/7 phone support that was quick, and very good. Most of my experience with service was when they were Concentric. They have always had good uptime and server speed is excellant. The only downside is there are numerous companies with apparently equal or better plans at less cost. However, for now I'm sticking with XO.

Our web host (9NetAve) was bought out by some company that didn't last very long, which in turn was bought out by XO. Over the 3 years we have been online we haven't had very many problems. Any time we had billing or technical questions, they were answered in a very timely and professional manner.

I have two sites with XO. The first was just for fun, and I don't have any problems with it. Then I hosted my biz site there, with Miva Merchant shopping cart and it's nothing but problems. I have so little traffic and you'd think I was getting a million hits a day, it just drags. Also, customer service is does not exist. I have emailed about all the problems so I can document. They have confirmed that there are problems, but they never get back to me. When i contact them about this and that I would like an update, they just tell me they will let me know when they have it figured out...that was 5 weeks ago, I still haven't heard. I'm looking for a new hosting service and will move as soon as I find someone reliable.

I have been with xo for two years, just before xo bot concentric. They have been a real good host for me. I really like their "Gateway" sign in. It is very easy to use. I feel they charge to much. but you do get a lot. With this Host, at least you can gen in touch with someone...VERY IMPORTANT!

For nearly two years my site has been hosted here. During this time I have seldom had any problems, and never had any that didn't go away within a couple of minutes. Of those, there were only two times that I had a problem accessing my site. On the few occasions when I have contacted customer service, they responded promptly and fully ansewred my questions.

Those three words say it all. Reps rarely knew how to help with my questions, and sent me in circles trying to find my own answers. Instead of helping me over the phone, the answer I would get is "I'll send an email, check your email in 10 minutes". The rep would send the same email for every question I had...the problem with this is, I was asking about parts of the email that were unclear to me! I will NEVER use XO again.

I needed more space. XO forced me to upgrade from a service I liked to a "better" (& more expensive) service as a path to more space. It ends up they didn't mention all the features I'd lose in the process.
I can no longer publish my stats by simply giving out a URL to a real time stats page. Now only site admins can see the stats! Further, years of my stat history are lost. It is as though the site is 4 months old instead of 4+ years.
