Words can’t express just how robbed I feel. C|Net has a track record of choosing horrible hosts in its ratings and did so again in listing this one with an above-average grade. I got suckered by C|Net’s listing and placed an order for domain hosting.

Perhaps it was a sign of things to come when I placed my order and never heard back from this host. No confirmation, no nothing. It wasn’t until I went to their payment provider (who threatened freehostingweb to remit my payment and remove them from service) that I got an email confirmation and reply. Mailing lists didn’t work, although they worked after 3-4 emails to tech support.

Service for awhile was ok. In early March, the site was taken down by hackers and stayed down for nearly two weeks. Now my website URL points to a completely unrelated site. I have called, emailed, etc. Nothing. No reply. No answer on the phone. Attempts to transfer to another host have proven fruitless. Still no action when I request a DNS change.

ICANN lists a dispute resolution policy at http://www.icann.org/dndr/udrp/policy.htm -- those interested in trying to get back their domain names and having no luck should pursue complaints. Whois lists dotregistrar.com as a related party. Anyone with info?
