The big culprit of our domain name transfer disaster was Interland. Basically, the problem emerged from Interland buying out the web-hosting company "ICOM". ICOM originally had rights to host our website with our domain name. Unfortunately, with ICOM being bought out by Interland, we were left with no one to speak to from ICOM that would have the authorization to hand over the domain name hosting rights to Interland (after all, Network Solutions recognized ICOM and Interland as two separate legal companies).
On numerous occasions I would call the account managers and customer service people at Interland about our problems with trying to get a company that was literally no longer an operating business to transfer our domain rights of "iitours.com" to the legal entity of Interland. Many of my voice mails were not returned. Though Interland bought out and was supposed to take over the operations of ICOM, not one person I spoke with new what to do about transferring the domain rights from ICOM to Interland nor followed through with the solutions they said they had to our problems. They were very uncooperative with our issues so we decided to cancel their service and look for a more helpful web-hosting company. Our repeated requests to cancel the web-hosting service was essentially denied. After several requests to cancel the service they continued charging us and were left with no IP address to work with to begin construction of our website. Our domain name was left blank for several weeks because of Interland's lack of cooperation and concern which prevented us from developing our business marketing needs. I eventually had to come up with my own solution to solve this issue since Interland was not helpful at all.
I contacted Web Wizards, a smaller web-hosting company based in San Diego which I felt would be more helpful in solving our issue. I heard several good things about Web Wizards from other customers, so I decided to give them a try. On the very same day Web Wizards put in a request to transfer our domain name rights from Interland's server to Web Wizards' server. For some reason, Interland was able to quickly coordinate the transfer of the domain rights to the Web Wizards' server. However, our problems did not stop there. Interland continually charged monthly web-hosting fees to my client's credit card, even knowing that my client and I wrote a request in writing to stop all services and fees.
