Seanic fully understands your concern - Review by submitted on August 21, 2003

My name is Michel Morin, and I am a Seanic Reseller. Seanic is hosting about 50 websites of my customers. Most of the time, evething's going fine and easy, but few days ago I had really a large problem with domain name grandlac.com's URL. I could not access to this website thru my ISP, but could access to the temporary URL grandlac.com.seanic7.net...Everything was against Seanic...My DNS settings were OK, settings were modified more than 48 hours and my cache had been flushed several times to avoid reloading some outdated records. Then I went on their Customer Service chatroom and Judy introduced me with a technician. He finally found that the problem was within my ISP provider's server. ISP's dns server (in the ISP network somewhere) has cached a negative response to domain name www.grandlac.com, and this happens as DNS servers often cache dns results including negative results. We also found that users connected thru another connection provider had successful access to grandlac.com and that this issue was related exclusively to my own connection provider. So the problem was an HOSTNAME problem....

It's easy to throw the stone if you don't understand the dark side of the internet...

NEVER USE SEANIC.NET!! Horrible experience! - Review by Jason submitted on August 18, 2003

I have had Seanic.net hosting for less than a week, and all I have had is misery. Tech support is virtually non-existant. I only want to use the account for SSH/Pine email access. I was unable to get Pine to work properly. Each time I try to check email, I am required to enter a password. Also, I am unable to send mail at all via Pine. This is completely unacceptable. I emailed the "24/7" tech support and received no response on the issue. The business states that they have 24/7 tech support through email. This is not the case. They also advertise that you can use Pine for checking email. This is also completely inaccurate.

My final recommendation is that you should completely avoid using this company. No wonder their prices are so low. You get what you pay for in this world.

Worst Service - Review by Anonymous submitted on August 2, 2003

We availed of Seanic web hosting services. Ever since we started using Seanic, we have been encountering intermittent problems in account and folder access as debug error messages flash on screen. Very recently, more gross problems experienced were of e-mails suddenly disappearing from our account folders.

Sceanic has very poor support. Though they are prompt in writing back responses, they don't really do thorough troubleshooting and they brush off the referred problems as if they were non-existent or just imagined by the client.

We have recently lost over 400 e-mails from applicants who responded to our very expensive advertising. When confronted Seanic initially apologized and said it could no longer restore the missing e-mails. Now as all e-mails have disappeared, Seanic no longer replies to our complaints.

Low price does not give them the right to render disservice to anyone and cause such damage to any business.

Please spread the word around.

I have two sites hosted by Seanic.net. I have had only a few minor problems with uptime, but I think Seanic was having a server problem that was quickly fixed. This problem only affected POP3, although I could still read my mail via the Web. Otherwise, customer service has always responded quickly via email. I transferred both of my sites to them with no hassles. For the price, you can't beat them.

Very slow connecting to email server.  Found it easier to have aliases and have them forwarded to one of my better servers.  Very slow on response to issues.  Often the grammar is poor and hard to understand if they are giving instructions.  My time is up in June and I will be moving.  for the money they aren't bad bad but there are too many out there to have to put up with this bad service.  I am a realist and I know they all will go down at some point or another.  Comparatively, Seanic stays up more than most.  Email is a totally different story.
Seanic.net representative's Anonymous response:

Email connection is working fine. We provide 24/7 support and chatroom support as well.

Our company is a committed and dedicated to providing quality web hosting and it is still growing day by day. Therefore, we will still be around for many years to come.

Seanic's response to my original post was vague as their responses to my problems often are. The e-mail slowness is absolutely not due to my ISP, as I have a number of other e-mail accounts that gather my mail in a matter of seconds, while Seanic's can take up to a minute or more. As I have told Seanic many times, my problems of viewing newly FTPd pages is *not* due to my cache, as I empty my cache every single time I open my browser.
That said, Seanic's reps have been prompt and polite with every problem, but the fact that the problems never change is the issue.

I contracted with seanic.net for an inexpensive web host for a start-up business. I guess, for $3.92, I'm getting what I am paying for, NOT MUCH. I've loaded my files but the server hasn't been up in three days and either has their domain.

Your website is showing fine.

The mail server is the biggest problem, and they know it.  They even tell you to use your own ISP for your outgoing server because theirs is slow.  Now, it keeps crashing, and I can't even log into their site all the time to find out what's wrong.  It's cheap as chips, but (as everyone else keeps saying) "You Get What You Pay For".

I run three websites. Two of them are with Seanic - I've even thought about moving the other one to Seanic because they're cheaper, but am too lazy. I've only had one brief problem when a server was down for 10 hours. When I've asked questions, they have been efficient and responded by mail. For $3.92/month including registering the domain, you can't complain! If you simply want a website, this is a good place to go.

Support requests via email have been handled quickly.  Getting mcrypt for php installed by support went easy.  Transferring my domain went without any trouble (which was free).  Haven't had any real problems with email, aside from being a little slow at times... but that's to be expected from any mail server.  Server uptime has been good.  Server response time is good.  My only gripe is that when I log in via SSH, I can see (not modify) the contents of other accounts home directories.  Not a huge deal considering it's all exposed via http anyway, but it'd be nice to have a bit more privacy.  For $3.92/mo I can't complain.

Whenever I make changes to any of my pages, the pages are not available for anywhere from 1 day to over a week. Or they're only available sometimes. They have their own little message, too, not the usual 404. POP e-mail is extremely slow to download to Outlook. It's a good thing my web site is not for my business,...
Seanic.net representative's Anonymous response:

You will need to inform our support department in order for them to check what is the problem that you are facing. It is higly unlikely that your pages is only sometimes available. It could be minor configuration problem from your end or your cache is not cleared.

The slow email download that you have mentioned could be connection problem from your ISP. Please check with your ISP instead.

We have many business site and non-business site customers that are very pleased with our services.

At first there were numerous problems with this hosting company. The specific server that hosted my website was down in the first few days, which was upsetting to me. They then appologized saying that this specific server had had problems.

If you use a more advanced site, then prepare yourself to practically no tech support. Since there is no phone number listed, the cycle gets longer. In my case, at times the response has not been accurate, or misunderstood by the technician. So, it has been frustrated, but the site has not been down since then.

We do have 24/7 email support and chatroom at designated hours.

Numerous Email Problems w/No Help - Review by Anonymous submitted on December 4, 2002

We have had numerous problems with one of our email accounts here.  Each time I submit the support form online. Sometimes the email account has been corrupted, sometimes I don't know what the problem was .. they just ask (by email) for time to look into it, and then suggest it is our connection.  Though other email accounts on their server and on the same client PC work just fine, they don't seem to consider these issues/questions when I reply with them.  We most recently had this problem with the email account being corrupted somehow on Nov 21, which is when I notified them via their "support form" online -- the issue has not been resolved yet (it is now Dec 4), even with a short-term fix.  The inbox continues to fill.  I am looking now for a better alternative, with customer service I can reach and who will work with us when there are issues.
Seanic.net representative's Anonymous response:

It is highly unlikely that all the other email accounts work and one of it does not. Usually we will rectify the problem for customers as soon as we could. We do have 24/7 email support and chatroom support at designated hours.

I am a newbie to website design and this site has been very newbie-friendly, in my opinion.  They have everything laid out in an easily understandable format.  You can edit a document & view it immediately.  Again, I don't have much experience with other hosting sites, but this one has been great for me - so far.  Quick assistance with the one problem I've had so far.
