There server crashed and they screwed up my site. Then they transfered my site to a "improved" server and messed my site up again. Then I couldn't logon to my Control panel to fix it. After my site was down for way more then a month or two because of all that junk, they gave me the run-around on honoring their 99.9% uptime guarantee

Run away - don't walk. - Review by submitted on June 24, 2003

Two months of frustration.  Control Panel never let me create subdomains (had to submit help ticket to fix DNS), wouldn't let create add-on domains (had to submit help ticket to fix DNS), email normally worked (but then again - who knows what I missed?).  I almost always had 25-50% packet loss and the server seems to be rebooted several times a day (7 times in a single 6 hour session).  Mind you, this was under a reseller account - I was suppose to be able to 'resell' their hosting and email services.  I ended up losing 14% of my customer base and giving refunds to the remainder (as well as a blood oath that I would leave this lousy provider).  Yes, I was an idiot and popped for a full years service up front to get a cheaper price and expect to eat that as a costly mistake on my part.  Never again.  After 2 months, 8 help tickets (each with several email exchanges as a result) and setting up the site (and sub-sites) no less than 25 times - I ended up with all sites and email working.  24 hours later I had 1 somewhat working website and 8 working emails - for a 90% capability loss.  The response from support was 'Huh, the DNS records are corrupt'.  In the immortal words of 'Steve - A Super Vilain', 'That was the last Straw'.  I leased a dedicated self-administered Linux box, 6 hours later - all my sites were up with working email and it's been running 'untouched' for three weeks now.  As I said before, never again.

If by some miracle DigiHosters refunds the unused portion of my service, I'll come back here and note it as such.  But don't hold your breath, you'll turn blue.

DonC.

DigiHosters did refund my money.  I asked for the unused portion with an explanation of 'most' of the problems encountered which dated back to the beginning of my service with them.  DigiHosters refunded all of the fees - not just the unused portion.  I still wouldn't recommend DigiHosters, but I did get treated fairly in the end.

Thank you,
DonC.

in the last month, this host has gone down two times. the first was for a server migration yet they failed to inform their customers it was happening and offered no apologies.  After the migration they were attacked by hackers and now today they're down again.

Got really screwed by DigiHosters and David - Review by submitted on May 5, 2003

Our Rush Tribute Band's site was located on Digihosters for about 2 months with a few down times here and there but nothing too severe.

Then they changed their server and wiped out our entire 80 meg site.  They said that they upgraded and that our server changed and gave me the information.

I changed the domain info and waited for that to propagate for 3 days and then it didn't work.  I then played mail tag with Digihosters for about a week.  After about 10 days of our site being down.  David decided to actually reply and confessed that something had happened and that the new site created for us had some problems.  That cost us another 3 days of waiting.  Then one day, our site was up for about 5 hours and then it went down for good.

And then, David decided to totally neglect any of my emails.  In other words, he screwed me, ripped me off, whatever.

If you don't want to lose all your money, DO NOT USE DIGIHOSTERS.  They (or David is)in my opinion, dishonest.

Crappy service, frequently down - Review by klocwerk submitted on April 8, 2003
Customer's web site: cybertrash.net
Length of time hosted by this company: 3 months - 1 year
Date when last hosted by this company (as of April 8, 2003): Current customer
Plan used: 1gig quota, $10 a month. $9 too much.
Customer service rating: 2 out of 10
Technical quality rating: 2 out of 10
Cost rating: 3 out of 10
Overall rating: 2 out of 10
Been with digihosters.com since october (now april) and my site has been inaccessable at LEAST once a week the entire time. The only reason I went with them was a large disk quota and SSH, but they've disable my SSH twice (i've had to complain to get it back enabled) and large disk quota is useless if the site is always down, and slow when it's actually up.

VERY disappointed.

I've been using digihosters now for several months to host my domain and have been quite pleased with their service.  I pay $9.95 a month and get 1 GB of disk space, 10 GB of network traffic a month, and SSH access to a machine where I can do essentially whatever I want in a sandboxed execution environment.  Their support staff is friendly and responsive to email, even at ungodly hours of the night.  The only two issues I've had are (1) that the sandboxed environment is very limited (i.e., only a very limited set of tools are available) and (2) that usernames have @ characters in them which require that you hack scp and recompile it to prevent scp from getting confused into thinking that part of the username is the host you're trying to connect to.  One way they could improve on (1) might be to use sandboxed environments based on vservers and use their primitive "copy-on-write" mechanism. This would allow users to have access to a wide range of tools while at the same time not wasting disk space since the majority of the files being shared will be binaries that typically are not modified.

Poor support, services recieved not the same as advertised, server slow, server not allowing more than a few incoming connections before it crashed, outdated database.
Not recommended.
DigiHosters.com representative's response:

Hi

Please contact us through any of our email addresses (support@digihosters.com, david@decinvest.com or david85@home.se) or submit a trouble ticket in our helpdesk so that we atleast get a chance to correct the issues you've mentioned. We reply to all emails and trouble tickets we receive, and we do everything we can to correct errors. Our servers are both fast and stable (check our website, we'll soon have uptime reports posted). Claiming that our servers doesn't allow more than a few connections is pure nonsense.

Regards,
David

After my ISP changed their policy and disallowed home run servers I had to find hosting.  I looked at a few site mentioned here, but ultimately chose digihosters for the amount of space given.  I submitted all the required information and within a day all was set up and waiting for me.  I had access to Perl, web based email checking, subdomains, and a slew of other features.  At one point I ran into a small problem, but support was listed as an ICQ number which I messaged and within 5 minutes the problem was fixed.  I would highly recommend digihosters.
