Too many excuses....

Lost all my sites twice... had to rebuild from scratch, with the damage to my reputation not even acknowledged.

Strangely backups seemed to have failed.. should that be *my* problem? Here there was no sympathy.

Avoid, until they sort themselves out.

Used to be pretty good, but recently there's been a lot of downtime which has been very unsatisfactorily explained. And they'll suspend you from the support forum (the only form of support available) for complaining!

Seemingly incapable of keeping a server working properly for more than a few weeks, PWS lurch from crisis to disaster with monotonous regularity.

Their insistence on using forums as a method of providing what they fondly believe is customer support continues, most customers will have long since given up and gone elsewhere long before they have completed the hoop jumping necessary to access the part of the labyrinthine forum where it's faintly possible they might get some help!

This shambles (I wouldn't dignify it with the title 'company') is a resellers worst nightmare.
If you want to loose most of your clients because the server's down AGAIN, and you can't find out what's wrong because PWS aren't talking to anybody, this is THE provider for you...

And as for explanations! These guys ought to be writing pulp fiction, I have never heard such childish lies in my life: 'men in black' confiscating their server HDs without warrant or receipt is just one of their little fantasy numbers concocted to BS their way out of trouble...

Currently I have serious problems with one of their servers and have been unable to raise a reply for over 50 hours. Which is about par for the course.

Used to be cheap,though no longer; not cheerful, and in this case you DON'T get what you pay for...

This is a very badly run operation. Their customer service is very poor. The downtime is appalling although to be fair it is down to third party issues and is being addressed. I have asked for a snail mail address of their Head Office and a VAT number. They are not a limited company nor are they VAT registered (they have told me this) and as a UK company offer no means of contact other than a forum which sometimes degenerates into a farce. I am trying to track down the boss whose address is given as a place in North Wales although their Operations Manger informs me that for personal reasons he is rarely about. MI5 are more open than this operation.

This would make a good advertising slogan for them.  There support is via a forum, but if you have too many problems you get kicked off the forum.  Take a look at the forum before buying http://forum.prowebspace.com look at the problems, you will find that the server is down, this happens on a fortnightly rotation.

PWS had some problems earlier in the year, however I decided to stay with them - and from my experience since then I was right to do so.  They have a really open attitude and have an excellent support forum / community.  Im certainly glad I stayed.

I've been with 14 web hosting companies, and feel like I've finally found a home!

I started with PWS about a year ago and couldn't believe how friendly the staff were, how much value I got for my money which included a ton of features, fast support, and great performance! There was about a month where some external events caused a bit of downtime, but the months before and the months since more than make up for the problems during that time.  Unfortunately there were some individuals who joined right before the "month of the damned" and thought that this was what they could expect, and left.  Too bad they didn't stick it out... their loss!

Thank you PWS for all your help and your desire to be the most excellent host! Keep up the great work!

Although PWS have had a few problems of late (with periods of downtime - the longest was 2 days), they offer good value for money. With a reseller account, you get unlimited email accounts, MySQL databases, ftp accounts, subdomains, etc...

You can host as many domains as you wish, buying disk space and bandwidth in units costing just £10 per unit (one unit is 500MB space, 5000MB bandwidth per month). You can also vary the number of units you purchase on a month-by-month basis.

PWS also have a very good support forum where members of staff regularly post, as well other customers.

If you stick with them throught the little problems (like other hosts encounter as well), you can get compensation for your losses also.

I have hosted with PWS for around a year now, and its be great, all problems are dealt with asap, and they go out of there way to help clients. The support forum works a treat, I highly recomend PWS.

I started off my account here before they upgraded servers and before the hack attacks and have always had my questions answered with incredible honesty.  There was some downtime but the current status is phenomenal. I have had 3 different WHM/Cpanel hosts and since the server upgrades everything loads faster then I have ever seen. I notice the speed increase most with the WHM. I still smile every time when I see how much faster I can make accounts here then on my other server.  The security is top notch and the support forum is an excellent source of information for new webmasters. I highly recommend this host above all others for Unix WHM/Cpanel hosting. The only reason they get a 9 instead of a 10 is because I still dream of an eventual real ‘unlimited’ host somewhere and that will get my 10.

Good price poor service and frequent downtime. Removed shell access for security reasons, they say, though most other Linux based plans seem to offer it without a problem. Also added some crazy ban on politically themed sites after some customer apparantly put up a hate site, all other web host just refer to their "objectionable content" clauses in their TOS.
PWS is okay for personal sites but they are obviously amateurs playing at being pros.

I finally cancelled my account with this host after continuous problems. Unfortunately, although they acknowledged my cancellation, and promised they wouldn't keep charging me, they did, and requests for a refund are ignored.  After ten days of ignored emails, I rather polietly posted on their forum requesting some help in the matter and they edited my post and locked the thread so it couldn't be read or replied to.  They are still ignoring me, and apparently refusing to reverse the charges that were made to me after I had cancelled my account with them.

Their ss8 network has been town for 3 days over the recent weeks - there was no warning and they closed the forum so that people couldn't complain! Basically like hanging up on telephone support. A total waste of money and I lost lots of customers through it.

Prowebspace has had a very large amount of downtime for a very large number of resellers.

They also advertise services which they fail to provide. (after 3 months I still do not have proper logs for more than 14 days and the advertised telnet service was withdrawn without notice)

I had a really bad experience over the last 3 months.  It felt like about 20% uptime in total.  My site was hacked (not sure if this was their fault or not yet), then they lost weeks of backup data and then PWS brought their whole network down for several more weeks leaving dozens of people stranded.  Their support people have lots of excuses but if you keep on at them they just ignore you until you go away.  They're cheap but it's a false economy.

For the four months I was hosted by PWS, they had significant downtime every month, puncuated by an extended period of downtime once a month.  There were always many excuses and rationalizations, but it was just broken.  PWS support is also mediocre at best, failing to address issues customers have for long periods of time and failing to keep thier status page with any semblance of accuracy.

I would definitely recommend this host to any competitor.

OK, I gave them a shot, and got my reputation seriously hurt. Downtime for email and web sites is very HIGH... I suppose it would be fine for a personal web site where you don't use the email on the domain, and it's not important if your site goes down for a day or so.

They give absolutely NO warning of scheduled maintenance, they only comment on downtime after everyone is screaming in their forum (their only form of tech support).

it just gets hard to keep buying the non-stop excuses... I tried to keep giving the benefit of the doubt, but when I passed them on to my clients, they went from screaming to just laughing at me.

I have recently moved over to this server, all things considered, it's a very good value!
Support is online only, their forum gets quicker response then direct emails seem to, but both have reasonably good response time.

Email and load times are good
Reseller controls are very good, much more advanced then most of the others, allowing you to set up accounts how you want to.

I did have one very serious problem with them shortly after signing up, was never totally satisfied with the answers or lack of that I received, but I am going on the hopes that even if they won't actually admit any fault, they at least are aware of the problem, and hopefully won't do it again.

All in all, I am mostly satisfied, but going to be wary until I have some more history with this company.
