I think this hosting company has been great so far. I left Interland for them and have been nothing but satisfied. During some downtime (before the move to Atlanta) I tried to submit a refund. They called me and explained that the down-time was due to a router between us and them and they even emailed me reports to better explain what happened. So far, this host has been great. Very little downtime experienced here during the move to Atlanta!

TOO LONG DOWNTIME IN DECEMBER WITH THE MOVE TO ATLANTA.  SHOULD HAVE BE DELAYED UNTIL AFTER THE HOLIDAY SEASON...WE LOST SEVERAL SALES DUE TO THE DOWN TIME...SERVICE ISSUES USUALLY REQUIRE SEVERAL CALLS..EMAILS ARE NOT ANSWERED...THINKING ABOUT CHANGING HOSTS.

I've had a couple bad experiences with this company since Dell sold it. The worst was in December when my website was more or less unavailable for a week while the site was moved to new servers in a new location. (The interruption was supposed to be a few hours.) More recently it was unavailable for a day during the SQL bug attack. The company ignores all my emails asking for improvement or compensation. I am thinking of finding a new host, and I certainly would not recommend Dellhost to anyone else.

We just don't feel DellHost is living up to the reputation of their name.  I was able to reach tech support in short time by phone (and I usually reach the same person) ... I don't know how big is their tech support team.  Server uptime has not been so great since the last few months.  Their major relocation of their servers during the week of December had cost us financial damages b/c length of time was much longer than asked for.  Their email server had been down a few times and that's pretty bad b/c if we can't retrieve mails, we can't respond to customer's questions, and we basically lost many potential customers.  As of now (1/24-25) the entire DellHost server seems to be down as we can't access our site, can't access their site (dellhost.com) to access the control panel to change email, the mail server is completely shutdown.  We lost so much and we're in the lookout for a new hosting.  It's just too bad.

DellHost was excellent until taken over by Sprint in late 2002.  Since that time the downtime has been the worst we've seen with ANY host... they went from the best hosting service we ever had to the worst almost overnight.  And instead of getting better, with every week it gets worse and worse.  Actively seeking another hosting service NOW.....

Prices are okay, technical support is good, you can get through and talk to someone 24/7. But it's what happens after you report a problem. And the answer is practically nothing. My Miva has been down for almost a week, I have to call twice a day only to be told that someone is working on the problem. Oh really you mean for the last 6 days someone has been working on my problem 8 hours a day? The system admins are horrible and have no clue what they are doing, worse yet it takes an average of a week to have the problem fixed. I was down for the most important shopping week of the Year in December. Outage for close to a week. Now 4 weeks later I am down again for another week. Only to be told that "someone is working on the problem". If it takes you one week to fix a permission problem on the server you do not deserve to stay in business. Just horrible service. If you experience any type of problem expect about a week for someone to get around to fixing your problem.
If you put aside the fact that the system admins at Dellhost have no clue what they are doing you have a okay service worth looking into.

I used them almost entirely as a file server and for email. The email was horrid. The control panel is broken too - you wouldn't expect this from Dell, would you?

The problem is that when you create an account and ask it to autoforward, and then later ask it to stop autoforwarding, it does not acknowledge you saving the change making it not autoforward anymore.

I also frequently lose access to pop3 and frequently get problems like multiple emails, people getting warnings that my account is full when it isn't, and mail taking a long time to get email.

They also put you on hold a loooong time and their front line techs are dumb as rocks and don't always speak the best English.

Way way way too expensive, too.

Will be leaving soon for ICDsoft.com, in all probability.

My son's company contracted to use DellHost's dedicated server solution with daily incremental backups and complete weekly backups. During the last week of December 2002 their servers were not working.  Upon inquiry to the "7x24" staff (what a joke!) they were advised that the problem couldn't be fixed until the next mornini.  Then on New Year's eve (24 hours after we advised DellHost of this problem, they were notified by the Atlanta based manager that our entire hard drive had been erased accidentally and DELLHOST HAD INADVERTENTLY NOT BACKED UP THEIR SERVER FOR THE LAST 2 WEEKS!!! As a web design and hosting company, they relied on the professionalism and reputaion of the Dell name to perform its contracted services, especially the critical daily and weekly server backups to prevent any permanent destruction of our data, databases and files.  DellHost's representative offered to investigate the matter and provide them with a "post mortem" within 2-3 days.  What good is a post mortem review after they've destroyed hundreds if not thousands of man hours developing web sites for clients.  One of their clients, www.onlysimchas.com has over 30,000 members and received more than 4 Million page views per month.  All of that software development and database work and maintenance is now GONE FOREVER.  What kind of company destroys a business and thinks that customer service is to provide a post mortem and explanation of why they f--ked up? How can a company, in good conscience, provide contract terms that limit their liability for their own gross negligence while putting another company out of business? Imagine what kind of New Year's Eve they had trying to salvage what was left of their business while DellHost's "7x24 staff" was out partying? One would think that a subsidiary or affiliate of Dell was competent...obviously they were wrong.  If you want to stay in business, please stay away from DellHost.

Mail is CONSTANTLY having problems.  Site up-time is pretty good - although it has been down a few times last month.  Again, mail service is unreliable.

DellHost was just fine while it was located at Dell's facilities in Austin, Texas.  Then, Sprint decided to physically move all of the servers to Atlanta.  The move was to last from 10 pm Friday, December 6, 2002 to Saturday at 6 am December 7.  It is now December 10 and my website still does not function.  DellHost disconnected all of its customer service email addresses and has yet to respond with any indication of when it will be back on line.

I uses their shared hosting service for my website for about 5 months, and has been experienced some serious downtime. 1 day downtime happened couple times. The worst is it's down for 3+ days and give no expalation, just try to hide the serverity of the problem. After that downtime, I don't trust dellhost any more, how can I trust a tech company which is so reckless and light on technology? So I had to moved to another hosting service.

They guys at Dell host answer the phones quickly, and take time to answer all of my questions.  The Control Panel is easy to use, and the server responds fast.  I am very pleased

I have a couple of sites hosted by Dellhost because I figured they were less likely to go tits up after a year or so.  Uptime has been good, but email service is consistently erratic.

Package plans they offer simply are too pricey for what you get, as aside from the spit and polish job, they are not much better off than the smaller hosting services. Unreliability for something this pricey (i had one of the high priced e-commerce plans) is hits you in the "why did I bother" area of the brain. The worst I have to say about them though is that they will try to milk your c.c. after you terminate your account, even when doing so within the terms of service agreement. Support queries were slow response also.

Service from DellHost was perfect. Now there is a link with Sprint and oops, there goes the service!
Once never down, now in 6 months there have been 4 outages that I know of.
